Canned Tuna (Single) Benefits

What are the benefits of tuna?

Canned tuna, a staple in many kitchens, is a protein-packed food. Its long-term storage and easy accessibility make it a popular choice for families. Tuna comes in many different varieties, but it's generally low in fat and calories. It's an excellent source of protein. Some of the benefits of tuna include:

May Help Weight Loss: Because tuna is low in calories but high in protein, it may help with weight management. Protein-rich diets have been linked to several benefits for weight loss, including increased feelings of fullness and reduced cravings.
- May Support Heart, Eye, and Brain Health: Although tuna is low in fat, it is considered a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. EPA and/or DHA help maintain cardiovascular health. They support normal blood cholesterol levels and normal heart function. Studies have shown that eating more omega-3s is associated with a reduced rate of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack. For the 4-13 age group, DHA aids in normal brain development and normal eye and nervous system development. A study in 40,000 women observed that women who ate more than one serving of tuna per week had a 68% lower risk of developing dry eyes. Omega-3s are also thought to contribute to the overall health of the retina.
May Help Prevent Anemia: Tuna is a good source of vitamin B12, which may help with the formation of new red blood cells and prevent the development of anemia.

Additionally, tuna is one of the best dietary sources of vitamin D. Vitamin D can support normal bone health and a healthy immune system. Vitamin D may also help ensure optimal growth in children.
